Roosevelt High School is proud to announce that its Law and Public Service (LPS) Magnet Center has been named a 2025 National Merit School of Excellence by Magnet Schools of America. This honor is awarded to a select group of magnet schools nationwide that demonstrate exceptional academic achievement, diversity, and innovative programming.
The LPS Magnet prepares students for careers in law, government, and public service through rigorous coursework, hands-on learning experiences, and partnerships with local government agencies. Notable accomplishments include a 98% graduation rate, award-winning mock trial and debate teams, and an internship program that connects students with professionals in their chosen fields.
Principal Ben Gertner shared his excitement about the award:
“Receiving this recognition is a testament to the hard work and dedication of our students, staff, and families. It inspires us to continue preparing our students to be leaders in their communities and beyond.”
The LPS Magnet’s success is a reflection of the exceptional leadership of Ms. Ceja, whose vision and commitment have guided the program to new heights.
As a National Merit School of Excellence, Roosevelt High School’s LPS Magnet is eligible for additional accolades, including the Dr. Ronald P. Simpson Distinguished Merit Award, which is the most prestigious honor for magnet schools in the nation.
This award will be presented during the Magnet Schools of America National Conference in Nashville, Tennessee, from April 7-10, 2025.
Roosevelt High School celebrates this achievement and looks forward to building on this success for years to come.
