Beginning this school year, students under the age of 18 will need parent or guardian consent to access some of Google’s online tools. This change is due to new federal privacy rules for all K–12 districts across the United States.
If parents do not provide consent, students will still have access to Google Core Services (such as Google Classroom, Docs, Sheets, and Slides), but will not be able to use Google Additional Services.
Applications that require consent include:
-
Applied Digital Skills
-
Chrome Web Store
-
Colab (coding in Python)
-
Google Arts & Culture
-
Google Books & Google Bookmarks
-
Google Maps & Google My Maps
-
Google Earth
-
Google News
-
Google Photos
-
Google Translate
-
YouTube (educational content only)
How to Provide Consent:
Parents and guardians can complete the Google Workspace Parental Consent form through the LAUSD Parent Portal or request a paper form from their child’s school.
For assistance, families may call the Family Hotline at (213) 443-1300.
Roosevelt High School encourages all families to complete the form promptly so students can continue to benefit from the full range of Google learning tools.
