Welcome to the Roosevelt High School Mathematics Department

At Roosevelt High School, our Mathematics Department is dedicated to empowering students with the mathematical skills and critical thinking they need to excel in their academic and professional lives. Through a combination of challenging curriculum, collaborative learning, and individual support, we strive to create a positive environment that fosters intellectual growth and inspires a love for math.

Our Mission

The Mathematics Department at Roosevelt High School is committed to providing a rigorous and inclusive education that prepares students for both college and careers. We aim to nurture problem-solving, analytical thinking, and a growth mindset in all students, equipping them with the tools they need to succeed in the real world. We work in close partnership with families and the community to ensure that every student develops the skills, knowledge, and confidence to thrive.

Our Approach

Rigorous Curriculum

The Illustrative Math curriculum is designed to engage students in Algebra 1, Geometry, and Algebra 2 courses. We emphasize deep understanding of mathematical concepts and the application of these concepts in real-world situations.

Collaborative Learning

We encourage collaboration among students, providing opportunities to work together to solve complex problems and learn from one another. Our goal is to foster a classroom culture where students can share ideas and support each other’s learning.

Data-Driven Instruction

Teachers use data from tools like Illustrative Math, i-Ready, and Smarter Balanced assessments to monitor student progress and inform their teaching strategies. This helps to ensure that each student is supported and challenged appropriately, with instruction tailored to their individual needs.

Personalized Support

We offer after-school tutoring in the Math Center, individualized support, and a focus on differentiated instruction to ensure all students can succeed, regardless of their background or level of ability.
